Marion McIntyre: A Life Beautifully Lived

The world lost a bright light on November 1st, 2025, when our beloved Mom, Marion Rose McIntyre, passed away peacefully in Sidney, BC, at the age of 92. Born in British Columbia, she was the eldest of four children and was predeceased by her husband, Ronald A. McIntyre, in 2013.

Marion was, above all, defined by her enduring warmth and her kind spirit. With her sparkling blue eyes and gentle nature, she had a special gift for cultivating beauty—not just in her garden, but also in the lives of those around her, where she loved to make people feel welcome.

We will forever cherish the memory of her traditional Christmas sugar cookies, her love of nature and our dogs, and her competitive, winning streak at Scrabble. Her greatest joys were simple and true: the serenity of fishing with her Dad and brothers on Sundays at Steak Lake, the soil beneath her fingers while gardening, meals with family and friends, and the excitement of watching her favourite sports.

She leaves behind a legacy of unconditional love for her children, Howard (Dian); Sharon; and Valerie (Bill), parents of her cherished grandson, Daryn.

The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to the medical staff at Amica Beechwood, Sidney Shoreline Medical and the Saanich Peninsula Hospital. Their diligent care and daily kindness made even Marion’s most difficult times manageable. Though our hearts hurt, we are comforted knowing she has found her final peace.

To celebrate her life, we ask that you plant something beautiful in your garden as a living tribute to her memory. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mount Newton Centre Society.
