Skip passed away on the 22nd of February with Fran at his side after a short but valiant fight with Glioblastoma. He leaves behind his wife, Fran and his much loved children Meghan and Eric (Angela), grandchildren Stephen (Jennifer), Allister and Katey; his sisters Sally, Denise, Pegi, Betty, Annie, Lori, Patty and his brother Mark and many nieces and nephews.
Born in Waterbury, CT he joined the United States Navy at the height of the Viet Nam conflict and served honourably, travelling and living around the world for more than 20 years. In his retirement, he ran a B&B, managed a flight school and developed a new passion for flying small aircraft. He was always building or renovating something from cars to kitchens to a century farmhouse in PEI, to the maintenance on the birth center in Tucson. We will miss his laughter, his ingenuity and constant desire to help. One of his military colleagues said that he was “one of the really good guys” and will be missed. And, he loved his dogs. His beloved Gunda has been left wondering where he is.
A special thank-you to the staff of 8N and 8S at Royal Jubilee Hospital for their care during Skip’s last weeks. Services will be held at St. Mary Magdalene Anglican Church, Mayne Island BC on the 20th of March at 2 pm. In lieu of flowers consider donations to the BC Cancer Agency, glioblastoma research or a charity of your choice
