It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Arland David Robson, loving husband, father, and grandfather, suddenly at his home in Sidney, BC. Dad lost his inspirational battle with cancer just ten days prior to his 82nd birthday. He refused to let his illness keep him down and could be seen daily walking his dog, Livia, around Sidney right up to the day of his passing. Dad was our role model, mentor, and hero. We will miss him dearly, and he will forever remain in our memories and hearts.
Arland was best known for his kind heart and gentle demeanour. If you were lucky enough to have met our father, we are sure you would not have forgotten him, as he was truly special and one of a kind.
Arland was born at Victoria Jubilee Hospital and spent most of his childhood in Victoria, with a short stint in Surrey, before starting a family and eventually moving to Sidney. He was a devoted father who volunteered his time with both the Saanich Peninsula Soccer Association and Sidney Little League Baseball, while also embarking on a 35-year career as an engineer with BC Ferries. His career saw him spend several years living on Thetis Island and in Chemainus before later returning to Sidney, where he lived the remainder of his life.
Arland was predeceased by his parents, Ellen and James; stepfather Ron; sister Heather(Don); and brother Alan(Charlotte). He will be dearly missed by his loving wife, Meagan; first wife, Diane; sons, Lee (Sandy) and Craig (Tanya); grandchildren, Paige, Nick, Shane, and Evan; brother Roland(Barbara); sisters-in-law, Jenny(Michael), Olees(Keith) and Dawn(Shawn) as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends.
A celebration of life will take place on Saturday, June 6, 2026, from 1:00-5:00pm. at 1710 Jefferson Ave, Victoria. In lieu of flowers, donations to the BC Cancer Agency would be greatly appreciated.
