James Thomas Williams

James Thomas Williams

James, age 48, of Victoria, BC passed away peacefully on Nov 16, 2025, surrounded by his family and BMX family, after a lengthy illness due to terminal renal failure. James was born on Oct 24, 1977, in Victoria, BC.

James was a four-decade member of Victoria BMX club along side his dad Ken Williams (1938-2018). BMX was the most important part of his life. The BMX community became a close family to James and were a welcome support.

BMX started in 1984 for James, from beginner to pro and back to amateur as he got older. He travelled all over Canada and the US to go to races and would not miss an important race. When travelling to races there would be a motorcade of racers descending on different cities and towns, along with frequent carpooling. The best trip James and his dad took was to Kentucky with the Michell family.

He made close friendships through his work at Ellice and then GFL, he loved to drive and said he felt like a kid in a Tonka Truck.

His community of friends came together to celebrate who he was and he appreciated every minute of his time with people.

James had a close relationship with his nephew Corben and has left behind BMX equipment for him to grow into.

He also played local hockey as a goalie and enjoyed fishing as a hobby.

James adored his dogs and missed them dearly, Bailey, Guinness, Frisky and Bella. His sister’s dog, Rico came to hospice for a visit as requested.

James spent 7 years living in Dixonville Alberta and loved working on the road grater in the summer and snowplows in the winter. Up there his hobbies were fishing and target practice at the local shooting range. Ken and James spent free time at the Whistle Stop General Store for meals or just coffee and company. They also loved going on Sunday drives, even to the Northwest Territories.

James will be remembered as a staunch supporter of the Greater Victoria BMX club and enthusiastic cheerleader for new riders, especially the kids.

He leaves behind his sister Melissa (Tim), and Nephew Corben, extended family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to The Greater Victoria BMX Association. Kyle Besler (250) 516-6703 bmxvictoria@gmail.com https://greater-victoria-bmx-association.square.site
