Alan Gardner
November 8, 1941 – August 28, 2025
Alan Gardner passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 28th, 2025.
Alan will be lovingly remembered by all who knew him, his partner Maren Watson; his children Wayne (Brenda), Danna (Sydney), Monique (Corey), and Jacqui (Craig); and his grandchildren Rhianna, Helina, Isabelle, and Christian. He is also survived by his sisters, Linda and Janet.
Born on November 8, 1941, in Princeton, BC, Alan was the firstborn of three children to Hilda and Ira Gardner. As their family grew, they moved to Vancouver.
After high school, Alan set off from Vancouver on a cross-country adventure with his close friend Earl in a vintage Ford truck — a journey he would fondly recall throughout his life. He returned to Vancouver and embarked on a long and successful career in sales and entrepreneurship. His work took him across the country — from Calgary to Toronto, Montreal to Victoria — before he eventually settled in Brentwood Bay, BC, in a home he proudly built himself.
Alan was a lifelong fisherman with a deep admiration for the West Coast. His passion for fishing and adventure was joyfully shared with family and friends. Countless cherished memories were made exploring the coast, discovering hidden gems, and enjoying seafood feasts together.
Above all, Alan was a man of optimism, inspiring hope and generosity in those he loved. He supported his children and grandchildren with love, acceptance, sage (and often witty) advice, and encouraged their happiness and independence. He will be deeply missed by all.
In lieu of a funeral service, the family will be holding a Celebration of Life in late Spring 2026. Arrangements will be announced once confirmed.
Donations to Parkinson Canada would be greatly appreciated in memoriam at https://www.parkinson.ca/.
