Gordon Kurtis Aalborg

On August 8, 2025, Gordon slipped away peacefully at the age of 83, in Victoria, B.C.
An award-winning author, keen outdoorsman and creative wood carver, Gordon lived a life full of adventure and romance. Born in Edmonton, Alberta, February 5, 1942, he began his career as a journalist, photographer and columnist for The Edmonton Journal (1962-73). He continued to write as a freelance print, radio and television journalist in Australia from 1973 until 2000.
Beginning in 1980, he made a name for himself as the first male who had a successful career as a Romance writer for Harlequin (Mills & Boone) under the nom de plum, Victoria Gordon, publishing over 20 titles. Most recently, Gordon won the prestigious Golden Spur Award for his historic Western novel, River of Porcupines.
As the founding president and life time member of the Tasmanian Gundog Trial Association, he participated in trials with his many faithful canine companions after introducing the sport to Tasmania and was never without dogs during his life.
Pre-deceased by his wife, Denise Dietz Aalborg and his daughter, Christine Olson, Gordon is survived by his daughter, Kaarin-anne Aalborg, his sister, Rudi Aalborg as well as several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
No service or flowers by request. Donations may be made in Gordon’s name to the SPCA or a charity of your choice.
