Donna Frances Schurman

Donna Frances Schurman

Donna Schurman (nee Huculak)

December 1962-August 26, 2025

With deep love and sorrow, we announce the passing of Donna Schurman, who left us peacefully on August 26, 2025, at the age of 62.
Born in Edmonton, Alberta, Donna was the fifth of ten children born to Katherine and John Huculak. From a young age, she brought warmth, laughter and a deep sense of loyalty to those around her. She embodied these qualities all her life.
Donna started working with the Federal Government in the Canada Pension department at the age of 17. She forged a formidable career path during her 36 years there retiring in the role of one of the top Pension Fraud Investigators. During that time Donna also formed many meaningful and long-term friendships with her coworkers.
Donna met the love of her life, Ken Schurman, and together they built a life with love and devotion. They eventually moved to Sidney, British Columbia, where they raised their two beloved daughters, Katrina and Sammantha and became deeply rooted in the community.
Donna was a vibrant and beloved member of the Sidney community. She was actively involved in her local church, youth sports and political groups, always ready to lend her voice, her heart and her time to the cause she believed in. Whether it was through a kind word, a heartfelt and often humorous conversation, or a pocket full of dog treats, Donna made an impression on everyone she met – especially the neighbourhood dogs, who knew her as a daily source of love and snacks.
Her legacy is one of laughter, strength and unwavering kindness. Even though she lived miles away, Donna made every effort to stay connected to her family. She will be missed beyond measure by her family, friends and all those lucky enough to have known her.
Donna leaves behind, and will be missed, by her husband, Ken Schurman, her daughters Katrina and Sammantha, sister-in-law, Debbie, brother-in-law Jim, siblings Kathy (Dwayne), Conrad, Gale (Ronel), Sherry, Shelly (John), Jackie (Mike), Tammy (Marcel), brother-in-law Jerry and her huge extended family of nieces, nephews, cousins and aunts and uncles.
Donna was predeceased by her parents Katherine and John, sister Susan, sister-in-law Donna, brother-in-law Walter, and her nieces Katherine and Amber.

Arrangements for Donna’s celebration of life will be announced once they have been confirmed.

Thank you for your well wishes, support and prayers.

Donna was a bright light at work. She always had a story or a joke or a kind word to lift up everyone’s spirits. Her shopping excursions were legendary and her generosity boundless. Truly one of a kind!
