Dale Lee Peddie

Dale Lee Peddie

Dale Lee Peddie passed away on Friday, June 18th 2021, after a 15 month battle with cancer. Dale was born on March 22, 1956 in North Battleford Saskatchewan. He moved to the west coast in the late ’70s to enjoy the lifestyle on Vancouver Island. Despite not being a techie, he had a long and successful career in IT. He was passionate about life and pursued his love of music, cars, good food and wine, and great friendships with gusto. He faced his cancer with the same philosophy as he lived his life – with strength, courage, positivity and love. Although he is no longer by our side, he will continue to be a part of us. He is survived by his loving wife, Michelle Wong; his beautiful son, Richard Peddie; and devoted sister, Pat Sanderson. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Saanich Peninsula Hospital Foundation – Palliative Care Unit in Dale’s memory.

Dear Michelle, Richard and family, please accept our deepest condolences.

I met Dale in Toronto in the early 80s at – what else ? – a BMW car show. Before retirement for both of us, we crossed paths often at Victoria International or on the ferry. Every time we did see each other, BMW or car events included, it was always a pleasure.

That’s how I will remember Dale forever – the countless things he said or did will always make me smile or laugh out loud. That’s the kind of person Dale was. What’s bad to say about Dale ? Nothing.

You will be missed Dale. Rest In Peace.

I am at a loss for words and still trying to come to terms with the fact that Dale has gone on to a far better place. My heart aches for Michelle and Richard. I am just one of many friends that Dale touched with his wide smile, big hugs and his way of making you feel special…I remember his 50th Birthday Party and marveling at all the friends that had been able to travel and celebrate in his honor. Some of the people there had been friends with him since he was in grade school. The thing about that party was that it wasn’t about Dale, it felt like it was more of a celebration of his friends. I thought wow this is one very special guy !! I think he has left us all with a lasting impression about how life, love, and friendship should be…we are all missing you Dale…. I’ll never forget you.

Dale was always a bright shining light in my life from the very first time we met. Integrity is so rare these days and he was always a beacon of it. Honesty is also hard to find. When I had some rough patches in my life, Dale was always a most excellent ear for me but also, he always gave me the truth. He helped me through those rough patches and I am forever grateful to him.

I have so many fond memories that I will carry with me for the rest of my life and smile each time I think of them. I will also laugh as well as we had so many very funny moments together.

I am grateful for his friendship, his love, his support, his encouragements and his wonderful heart.

I miss my most excellent friend!

My heart goes out to Michelle and Richard.

    Much love ….
    Gil

  • David Kelly -

I had the opportunity to work with Dale when I recruited him to join Dell in 1997. He was well known in the business as “ The Guy “ who knew all the Public Sector clients in BC. Dale was very successful and truly enjoyed delivering an exceptional client experience. His passion towards cars and wine was very evident especially when he picked me up at the Victoria airport in his newly detailed BMW Bat which I had never seen before.

He will always be remembered for truly having passion for the things and people he cared for. He will be missed by many but never forgotten. A true gentleman !!

Dale and I lived together in Toronto in 1985/86 before he married Elizabeth. We had fun together. Never met anyone so passionate about his BMW.
