Darlene Weiler

Darlene Weiler

Darlene Rose Weiler passed away on February 12, 2026 at the age of 86 in Victoria, B.C.
She was born December 9, 1939 in Regina, Saskatchewan to Bertha and John Daly. She and her four brothers found extensive amusement through banter, merriment, and horseplay while growing up on the family farm. This atmosphere of folly and silliness instilled in her a lifelong appreciation of fun and adventure, especially if something new or exciting was occurring.
Her open, adventurous spirit led her to Calgary, where she met her husband, Dave. While welcoming their oldest child, Marnie, they indulged their wanderlust by living in Washington, California and Nevada, while welcoming their second child, Greg. Yearly summer road trips to Canada were important to maintain family ties. Darlene loved hosting family members at home, showing them the sights, going to casinos, indulging in storytelling and always laughing a lot. These visits became a regular and integral part of her life.
After her children left home, Darlene went on another adventure and moved to Vancouver Island. The island was unlike anywhere she had lived before and she embraced its uniqueness. She joined various clubs and volunteered at childcare center while becoming an avid gardener. She continued to satisfy her wanderlust by travelling with her siblings and their families on cruises to Alaska and the Caribbean, a tour of the U.K., as well as several visits to Mazatlán.
Darlene is survived by her son, Greg (Jenn) Weiler, of Denver, Colorado, her daughter, Marnie (Grant) Bannister of Victoria and her brother Brian (Susan) Daly of Selkirk, Manitoba.
