Christopher Richard Westmacott, age 38, of Victoria, BC passed away peacefully on May 17, 2025, surrounded by his family and friends, after a courageous battle with colon cancer.
Chris was born on December 4, 1986, in Victoria, BC, where his family lived a short time before moving to Burnaby. He attended school there for six years, and then he and his family moved to Oceanside, California where he graduated from high school, returning to Victoria in 2006. He met his wife Rebecca in the summer of 2011 and proposed to her in the spring of 2012. The couple was married the following year, on the anniversary of the day they met.
Chris was a senior network architect who excelled as a team lead, bringing his knowledge, expertise, and positive outlook to every project. He loved to learn and used his research skills to pursue a variety of passions like gaming, cooking, carpentry, gardening, fitness, and crafting natural health and body care products. His indomitable spirit, wealth of knowledge, and kind smile touched everyone he met.
Chris had dreams of becoming a father, outdoor adventurer, podcaster, vlogger, and entrepreneur. He was known for his ability to remain calm and positive, even during the most stressful of times. His positivity and steadfast nature encouraged friends and family alike, supporting them through the ups and downs of life.
He is survived by his wife Rebecca (Pennell) Westmacott, his parents Laurie Erwin and Rick Westmacott (Carrianne); his brother Thomas, sister Breanna Dumonceaux (Jordan), and step-sister Moriah; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and nieces.
A memorial will be held for Chris on June 21, 2025, at 2:00 pm at Saanich Baptist Church where he enjoyed in-person and online sermons throughout his walk with God. All who loved Chris and have been impacted by the light he brought into this world are welcome to attend and encouraged to bring a handwritten note or message to place in the memorial journal.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Chris’ honour to Compassion Canada, an organization that he supported for many years, that helps children and families in need in a variety of countries.
Chris’ time with us was much too short, however, his love, passion, and strength will remain in the memories and lives of all who encountered him.
Sending our heartfelt condolences to the families.
